Hip Pain & Knee Pain

Hip and knee pain are very common issues that can affect anyone.

Common causes of hip pain can include muscle strains or tears, tendinitis, bursitis, fracture, labral tear, inguinal hernia, arthritic changes, nerve impingements and fractures.

Similar to hips, knee pain is commonly caused by muscle strains or tears, tendinitis, bursitis, fracture, dislocation of the kneecap, iliotibial band syndrome, meniscus (cartilage) tears, ligament injuries (cruciate ligaments, medial and lateral collateral ligaments) and arthritic changes to the joint.

Osteopaths are experts at diagnosing and treating the majority of these causes of hip and knee pain. Invariably, we find that strains from elsewhere in the body such as the feet, pelvis or spine, increase the pressure on the hip or knee joints and causes (or increases) the pain on these joints and structures.

Treatment and advice centres around the underlying cause of the pain, and also is aimed at removing the issue indefinitely and prevent it from returning.
